Structural housing designs for critical power supply and air handling units

The nature of the critical work delivered by the London Ambulance Service demands that essential services including power and air conditioning are fail-safe and PJCE were appointed to provide structural designs for the siting and housing of these essential elements.

Working closely with the MEP Engineers, the designed solution involved housing a back-up generator, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) units and Air Handing Units (AHU) externally, with the added benefit of freeing up floor space inside.

A new piled foundation slab supports the power station which is enclosed by fixed security fencing and a mezzanine gantry system was designed for the AHUs, interwoven amongst the existing rooftop plant units.

Internally, specialised structural work was required to support the substantial weight of the IT servers.
