This project required the redevelopment of a penthouse level office space with the removal of the existing roof subsequently replaced by a shallow flush floor plate maximising the storey height.
The existing roof consisted of a 3-D timber space frame supported on a series of steel posts. The location of the posts was restricted by the location of the original concrete framed structure below the new penthouse structure. This represented a significant challenge in order to design the preferred roof space yet maintain the load transfer system down to the original roof structure.
