This new project required the demolition of existing light industrial buildings and the formation of a new five storey building with single storey basement providing both commercial space and residential apartment units with single storey basement.
The basement structure was designed using a combination of embedded retaining wall types, using both steel sheet piling and contiguous auger bored piles to various perimeter boundaries. The basement walls were designed to maximise internal floor space wherever possible with various configurations provided including concrete bored piles with a reinforced concrete lining wall, and steel sheet piles with concrete infill trough profile. The structure is founded on a reinforced concrete raft foundation.
The superstructure is designed as a reinforced concrete column and flat slab structure taken up to transfer floors at first floor level. To the upper levels, the structure consists of a load bearing lightweight structure with timber floor plates.
