Modifications and extensions to a residential property near Wandsworth Common.
This project consisted of a basement extension and first-floor extension to a two-storey terraced house, nestled between Wandsworth Common and Clapham Common. The basement extension required reinforced concrete walls and contiguous piles, with a raft slab foundation. The first floor was extended out over the existing ground floor area, requiring part demolition of the lower level roof and modifications to the supporting structure. Some walls were also demolished throughout the house, which required design and installation of several portal frames to provide stability to the structure. Steel framing and prestressed concrete Hollowcore floor planks have been adopted to complete the rest of the modifications and additions throughout the building.
