This refurbishment project required the construction of a new mezzanine floor within an existing reinforced concrete framed office block. The project also required a new tear drop shaped extension to the ground floor facade to accommodate a new cafe.
The mezzanine and ground floor were separated by full height curved acrylic panels. The unique shape required the design a bespoke steel floor structure supported off the existing RC frame with a composite concrete slab which cantilevered to follow the curved profile of the acrylic panels.
The unique front extension also required a curved steel frame as a continuation of the profile of the acrylic dome above.
