This project required the refurbishment of an existing three storey Victorian terraced residence with the additional construction of a new basement below the existing lower ground floor level.

The works to the superstructure involved the demolition of existing load bearing walls throughout the building to be replaced with structural steel frames and beams installed to provide the necessary support and stability to the building. Each of the existing floor plates consisted of timber joists bearing on load bearing walls, all of which were replaced or upgraded to suit the new structural support scheme.

The new basement level was installed beneath the full extent of the building providing a sizeable increase in the total floor area of the property. The basement structure comprised a reinforced concrete slab, with a series of suitably designed reinforced concrete underpins and cantilevered retaining walls.
