Architect: Nick Brown Architects
This project consists of two private rented sector blocks of 17 and 21 storeys. A landscaped podium at the base provides basement car parking and residential amenities.
The proposed scheme comprises 463 apartments which will be a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom units, while amenities for residents will include a gym and residents lounges within each block.
PJCE have been appointed by Byldis to design the buildings utilising a precast concrete system. The system comprises a series of concrete panels forming load-bearing walls and floor slabs. Internal walls are placed between apartments and the external walls consist of insulated precast sandwich panels with an external skin supported by stainless steel brackets.
The precast system, which takes advantage of the repetitive nature of the floor layouts, will provide the programme, safety and quality benefits that are associated with precast construction.
The panels are constructed off-site and comprise an outer leaf of precast concrete, an insulating layer and a structural inner leaf of plain grey concrete with a power floated internal finish.
